LinkedIn Contacts Makes Relationship Building Even Easier

LinkedIn Contacts is gradually being rolled out to LinkedIn members. Once you notice the change in your contacts list, take a few minutes to explore the changes. When fully utilized, the features of LinkedIn Contacts become your central database for contact relationship management (CRM).

Syncing Your Contacts in LinkedIn

One of the features is the ability to sync your LinkedIn contacts with your other contact sources like email, address books and calendars, among others. Doing so allows you to manage and track all of your contact information on one platform.

Build Your LinkedIn Network

After importing your contacts from various sources, you’ll notice a variety of icons next to each contact name in your list. These icons indicate where the contact information came from and the contact’s status in LinkedIn.

For example, the image on the left shows that the first contact came from Gmail (and the lack of a LinkedIn icon indicates that they are not on LinkedIn).

The second and third contacts came from Google contacts and they are on LinkedIn and they are a first degree connection.

The fourth contact is on LinkedIn but they are not a connection and their contact information came from Google contacts, as well as a file import to LinkedIn.

This view allows the user to easily see which of their contacts are on LinkedIn but not yet a LinkedIn connection. With a couple clicks of the mouse and a personalized invitation to connect you can easily grow your LinkedIn network.

Start Your Day

Once your contact information is synced you’ll begin to see notifications labeled Start Your Day. This is a list of contacts you should reach out to or follow up with along with tasks from your calendar.

• LinkedIn will let you know who’s birthday it is so you can send them a personal greeting.
• You’ll also get a summary of any job changes for your connections so you can congratulate them on the change.
• Reminders that you set up within LinkedIn for followup with your contacts will appear.
• A list of your daily agenda will display. 

Spending a few minutes on this dashboard in the morning will help you stay in touch with your network in meaningful ways as you build your relationship.
